The compressors built into the channels give you even more control over the level of compression. Its kick and snare drums come through clearly in any mixing situation – and still sound natural and not overly compressed. Some of the expensive plugins available on the market deliver a highly natural and dynamic drum kit sound as a solo instrument, but many fail as soon as they are supposed to be used for a complete mix in a powerful pop or rock production.Įither the kick drum suddenly sounds much too slack or fuzzy in the mix, or the snare drum, which initially sounds natural and dynamic in solo mode, suddenly gets lost in the background in the overall mix, drowned out by the guitars and other instrumentsīut this is exactly where the MT Power Drum Kit is strongest. This is precisely where many drum sample programs fail. The MT Power Drum Kit Sampler differs from other, expensive drum samplers in that we have already pre-processed the sounds with compressors and EQs to make them a perfect fit for any mix. Samples have been specially recorded and processed to make them ideally suited for use in pop, rock and metal productions. All great stuff. The MT Power Drum Kit is a free drum sampler offering the powerful, high-quality sounds of an acoustic, realistic drum kit. I also use their Addictive Trigger program for drum replacement and their Retro Color plugin.

About the only thing that I am happy about with my upgrade to the full-on version was the pleasant surprise when the upgrade fee also included the larger AD2 bundle, so I got both bundles and was able to choose more AD packs, midi libraries and kit pieces. I originally bought the mid-level package of it and it came with the AD2 bundle.
Haha based on your avatar I can see you got hooked on AD2 because of SONAR too. They do sound good, but I think XLN is much more advanced. I also have MT Power Drums and the Sennheiser DrumMic'A, but I rarely touch them. I'm not a drummer, but there is not much I couldn't imagine doing now that I have a couple of these.

This sells for $83.16 in the cart at JRR Shop with discount code "group". I don't know if it's the "best" overall, but it sure is the bang for the buck after the free stuff.Ĭheck out the "Custom" deal, which lists for $169.95 at XLN, and lets you choose any 3 kits (drum sounds), 3 MIDIpaks (patterns), and 3 additional kit pieces to build your own custom drum setup. I may move my midi over there, record audio and bring it back. What do folks use for a good out-of-the-box classic 70s rock kit? I guess I could build my own in Impact if need be, but I don't like diddling with drums I'm not a drummer and I shouldn't have to do that rock's a fairly well-known genre ^)īTW - I think Cubase LE AI has a great default rock drum kit. better than anything I found in the 40 gigs these guys get a donation! Same one I was using in Artist zip for Impact. However, in the nearly 40 gigs of download, I've found exactly one kit that's not techno-babble or sounds like someone beating on garbage can lids.

I recently upgraded from Artist V2 to Pro, primarily to get VST support for external drum kits, but a strong second wish was to finally get a decent sounding rock drum kit out of the box in the plethora of new soundsets Pro provides (so I wouldn't need the plugins.
